Why is my credit card getting declined?
If your credit card is declined during checkout, it is most often due to our advanced anti-fraud protection system or your bank’s security measures. These systems help protect both you and our store from fraudulent charges and simple address errors.
Common causes include:
- A billing address mismatch — The billing address you enter at checkout must exactly match the address your bank or credit card company has on file.
- Small formatting differences, such as using “St” instead of “Street”, “Rd” instead of “Road”, or abbreviations vs. full words.
- Your bank sending a verification text message (or push notification) asking you to confirm the purchase.
What to do if your card is declined:
- Double-check that the billing address you entered matches your bank’s records exactly (including abbreviations).
- If you’re unsure how your bank has your address formatted, call the number on the back of your card or log into your online banking/credit card account to verify the correct address.
- Check your phone for a text message from your bank or credit card company asking if you made this purchase. If you receive one, simply reply “Yes” (or follow the instructions) to approve the transaction. This is a normal security step — while it can feel a bit annoying, it’s your bank looking out for you and protecting your account. Once you verify, you can return to checkout and re-attempt the purchase. It should go through successfully after that.
