Why Use an H3 Buffer?
The H3 is the heaviest standard carbine buffer. By increasing the mass of the reciprocating assembly, it provides several performance benefits:
- Reduced Recoil: The extra weight slows down the bolt carrier group (BCG) and absorbs more energy, leading to a softer "felt" recoil.
- Slower Cyclic Rate: Essential for full-auto or fast-firing scenarios to prevent malfunctions and "bolt bounce."
- Improved Extraction: By delaying the opening of the bolt, the casing has a millisecond longer to contract, making extraction smoother and more reliable in high-pressure setups.
- Suppression: If you run a suppressor, the backpressure increases gas port pressure; an H3 buffer helps counteract this "over-gassed" condition.
