Adventure Medical Kits CAT Tourniquet 2064-0020 (also known as the Adventure Medical C-A-T or Combat Application Tourniquet).

This is a genuine Gen 7 Combat Application Tourniquet (C-A-T), one of the most widely used and studied tourniquets in the world. It is designed for rapid, one-handed control of life-threatening extremity bleeding on arms or legs in tactical, wilderness, or emergency first-aid situations. Adventure Medical Kits packages and distributes this proven North American Rescue (NAR) design for inclusion in trauma kits, IFAKs, vehicle kits, and outdoor medical packs.

Key Features & Specs

  • Design: Gen 7 model with a durable windlass system and patented free-moving internal band for true circumferential pressure (eliminates gaps and pinching).
  • Rapid Application: Red Tip Technology® provides high-visibility cues for faster application under stress. Single routing buckle design reduces slack, complexity, and blood loss while allowing quick, one-handed use.
  • Locking Mechanism: Windlass rod with secure hook-and-loop retention strap to lock pressure in place during evacuation or transport.
  • Effectiveness: 100% effective at occluding blood flow in upper and lower extremities when applied correctly. Proven in combat and civilian studies.
  • Build: Lightweight, compact, and rugged construction. Reinforced components for durability in harsh conditions. Black color for low profile.
  • Dimensions (packaged): Approximately 2.5" x 4.5" x 1.5" (compact and easy to stow).
  • Weight: ~4 oz (113 g).
  • Additional: Exceeds ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2021 standards for workplace first aid. Single-use recommended after application (though training models exist).

The CAT is the standard of care for severe bleeding control and is issued by the U.S. military and many law enforcement agencies. It is simple enough for civilians with basic training yet reliable under extreme conditions.

Who It's For

  • Hikers, backpackers, hunters, and overlanders building or supplementing first-aid/trauma kits.
  • Tactical users, law enforcement, or anyone carrying an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit).
  • Vehicle, home, or workplace emergency preparedness.

Training Note: Proper tourniquet use requires training (e.g., Stop the Bleed courses). Incorrect application can cause additional harm.
