The Butler Creek ESC56 is part of the Element Series, which is a more rugged, modular upgrade over the classic Flip-Open line. While the standard 30200 fits a very specific measurement, the ESC56 uses a flexible "multi-fit" sleeve to cover a wider range of scope diameters.
Key Specifications
- Model Number: ESC56
- Series: Element (Objective)Fit Range: 50 mm – 56 mm (Objective Outside Diameter)
- Material: High-strength polymer lid with a stretchable rubber sleeve.
The "Element" Advantage
The ESC56 is designed for harsher conditions and more customization than the basic models:
- Flexible Positioning: The lid has two open positions: 180° (straight up) for reading your data disk, and 270° (folded back flat) to stay out of your field of view and prevent snagging.
- Extreme Durability: Uses stainless steel hardware and a more impact-resistant polymer than the standard Flip-Open series.
Modular Disk System: It comes with three interchangeable inserts for the lid:
- Black Disk: Solid protection to minimize sunlight.
- Clear Disk: Allows you to see through the scope even with the cap closed (great for sudden shots in rain/snow).
- Data Disk: A printable template (dope disk) where you can record your ballistics/elevation data for quick reference.
Sizing & Installation
Because the ESC56 covers a range (50–56 mm), it is much more forgiving than the standard 30200.
- How it fits: The rubber sleeve stretches over the objective bell. It is designed to be tight; if your scope is at the 56 mm limit, you may need to use a bit of force (or warm the rubber slightly) to get it on.
- Stability: Unlike the plastic-on-plastic friction of the older models, the rubber sleeve on the Element series is less likely to slide off under heavy recoil.
