How to remove the tomahawk from the kydex sheath safely:
- Move the safety screw/retention tab closer to the edge of the Kydex sheath to release tension and enable the sheath to open.
- Hold the sheath firmly with your non-dominant hand, pointed away from your body and others.
- Grasp the tomahawk handle with your dominant hand. Use the hammer poll as a pivot: apply slight outward/downward pressure on the blade edge toward the mouth of the sheath to relieve Kydex retention, then turn the head out and downward while drawing the hawk free. Maintain a controlled, downward motion.
- To re-sheath, reverse the sequence: insert the hammer poll into the sheath until you feel positive seating and retention, then rotate the tomahawk upward into its seated position. Re-position the safety screw/retention tab as required.
Care & maintenance:
- Clean and dry after exposure to moisture or salt air.
- Lightly oil the blade edge to prevent corrosion
- Periodically check the sheath’s retention screw and fasteners; tighten if needed.
