This is marketed as match-grade precision ammo that's versatile for hunting, long-range/target shooting, and self-defense/law enforcement use.

TUI® (Tumble Upon Impact) Technology

The patented design engineers the solid copper bullet to penetrate initially like a full metal jacket (FMJ) for good depth, then tumble end-over-end once it hits water-based tissue. This creates larger temporary and permanent wound cavities internally rather than relying on expansion or fragmentation at the surface. The idea is to transfer energy more effectively for devastating terminal performance while maintaining deep penetration.

  • It does not expand like traditional hunting bullets.
  • Testing (company ballistic gel videos and independent reviews) shows large wound channels and tumbling in gel, with good performance through barriers like windshields in some demos.
  • Independent tests (e.g., The Firearm Blog) noted good accuracy, reliable feeding, and effective gel performance with significant yaw and cavities, though real-world tumbling consistency can vary by velocity, tissue, and shot placement.

Note: As with any monolithic copper ammo, clean your barrel thoroughly if switching from lead-core ammo for best accuracy. Some AR-10 platforms may benefit from feed ramp polishing.

Performance Notes

  • Accuracy: Reviews describe it as very good to excellent (sub-MOA groups possible in precision rifles like Tikka or custom builds), with low velocity standard deviation. Suitable for 100–1,000+ yard steel shooting when zeroed properly.
  • Hunting: Intended for big game; the tumbling provides stopping power, but success depends on shot placement and retained velocity (similar to other non-expanding designs). Limited public field reports on large game like elk, with mixed anecdotal feedback.
  • Defense/Law Enforcement: Kansas Highway Patrol SRT tested the 168 gr TUI and compared it favorably to duty ammo in gel/barrier tests. The deep penetration + tumbling is highlighted for self-defense or tactical use.
  • Reloading: Brass is reloadable; the company also sells the 308-168-SCP projectile separately.
