IRayUSA collaborated with American defense manufacturing (ADM) to create the PICTAIL and MQD, introducing ADM's renowned picatinny mounting solution enhanced by an innovative, lighter and faster dovetail design, ideal for swift helmet transitions. The PICTAIL mount system amalgamates a standard dovetail shoe, commonly employed with helmet-mountable night vision optics and the MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail found on firearms. This harmonious fusion of mounting styles results in a more adaptable and accurate system on a rifle, while retaining full dovetail functionality on a helmet. The PICTAIL is fully compatible with standard dovetail interfaces used in helmet mounting hardware from manufacturers like Wilcox, KVC and others. The counterpart to the dovetail aspect of the PICTAIL shoe is the MIL-STD-1913 picatinny rail, meticulously crafted with a single slot to interface seamlessly with the ADM MQD mount. Working in harmony, the PICTAIL and MQD mount provide an adjustable setup on any standard picatinny rail. When used independently as an optic, they extend the rear offset by over 4-1/2 inches. Conversely, when configured for clip-on mode, the MQD and PICTAIL duo reduces the rear offset to a mere 1-1/2 inches. In clip-on mode, a mere 4 rail slots are required ahead of a day optic for the necessary forward rail space, rendering the PICTAIL and MQD combination perfect for compact platforms like SBRs and pistols.
