The Jack Wolf Knives Gunslinger Jack (JW54380) in Green Linen Micarta is a standout piece that blends the soul of a traditional "Gunstock" pattern with modern, high-performance features. Unlike Jack Wolf’s usual slipjoints, this is a bolster-lock (frame lock) folder that runs on ceramic bearings, making it a "modern traditional" powerhouse.

Key Specifications

  • Blade: 3.21–3.23" clip point, hollow ground CPM-S90V stainless steel (HRC 60-61), with acid stonewash or stonewash finish. Cutting edge ~2.83–2.86". Blade stock ~0.12" (3 mm) thick. The hollow grind is very thin behind the edge for excellent slicing performance while maintaining rigidity.
  • Handle: Green linen Micarta scales (textured for grip) with integral titanium bolsters and liners (often bronze anodized or dark blasted, depending on the exact variant). Dark blasted titanium hardware (Torx screws), backspacer, and pivot collars. Some versions include a bronze anodized titanium pocket clip (deep-carry style) with an optional blank spacer if you prefer to go clip-less.
  • Lock: Frame lock (bolster lock) with stainless steel lock bar insert.
  • Deployment: Front flipper tab (with double-sided long pull option on some descriptions); very smooth and snappy action thanks to ceramic bearings and a well-tuned detent. It also supports reverse flicking.
  • Dimensions: Closed length ~4.12–4.14" (104.6–105.2 mm); overall open length ~7.30–7.35"; thickness ~0.46" (scales) or up to ~0.62" including clip.
  • Weight: ~2.9–3.0 oz (82–84 g) — lightweight for its size and materials.
  • Origin: Made in China.

Key Features & Insights

  • A "Modern Traditional": While it looks like a classic slipjoint at first glance, the Gunslinger Jack is a one-handed opener using a front flipper or the nail nick. It provides the classic aesthetics Jack Wolf is known for but with the security of a lock.
  • The S90V Advantage: The blade is made from CPM S90V, a super-steel known for exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance. The hollow grind makes it an incredibly "slicey" tool for everyday carry.
  • Premium Presentation: Like all Jack Wolf knives, this typically comes in a collector's tin featuring custom artwork (by Sean Tiffany) and includes a microfiber cloth and a slipjoint-style leather slip.
  • V3 Updates: The latest version (released in early 2026) often features refined bronze anodizing on the titanium bolsters and a matching pocket clip. It also includes a titanium filler tab if you prefer to remove the clip and carry it in a leather slip.
