The LBE Unlimited H3 Heavy Recoil Buffer Tube Kit (model H3BUFKT, UPC 706612408110) is a complete AR-15 carbine buffer assembly kit from LBE Unlimited, a U.S.-based manufacturer of AR parts.

What's Included

  • 6-position mil-spec diameter buffer tube (receiver extension)
  • Carbine-length recoil spring
  • Mil-spec receiver end plate
  • Castle nut
  • H3 heavy recoil buffer

All components are made in the USA. The kit is designed as a direct drop-in replacement/upgrade for standard AR-15 carbine buffer systems (not compatible with rifle-length or pistol setups without modifications).

H3 Buffer Details

The standout component is the H3 heavy buffer (also sold separately as ARBUFF-H3):

  • Aluminum body with 3 tungsten weights inside.
  • Weight: Approximately 5.4–5.6 oz (heaviest in LBE's H-series; compare to standard carbine buffer ~3 oz, H1 ~3.8 oz, H2 ~4.7 oz).
  • Purpose: Slows bolt carrier group (BCG) velocity, reduces bolt bounce, improves consistency in extraction/ejection, and helps tame over-gassed setups or short-barreled rifles (SBRs)/pistols with carbine tubes. It can also soften felt recoil slightly and aid reliability with certain ammo or suppressed configurations.

Key Benefits and Use Cases

  • Ideal for over-gassed AR-15s, short barrels, or builds where a standard buffer causes excessive recoil impulse or unreliable cycling.
  • Helps achieve smoother operation and better accuracy by providing more consistent carrier speed.
  • Mil-spec dimensions ensure compatibility with standard AR-15 lower receivers and stocks.
  • Note: Heavier buffers like the H3 may require testing—too heavy can sometimes cause short-stroking or failure to lock back on empty with very light loads or under-gassed systems. Start with function testing.
