The Lantac USA 01-MSPEC-556-NIB-BCG is the M-SPEC® NiB (Nickel Boron) variant of Lantac's 5.56/.223 Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) for AR-15/M4/M16-style rifles. It's a mil-spec dimensioned BCG with targeted upgrades for better performance, aimed at reliable budget or mid-tier builds.

Key Specifications and Features

  • Caliber: 5.56/.223 (compatible with .223 Remington).
  • Carrier: 8620 steel, full-auto (M16) profile with increased mass for smoother operation and better lock time. Heat-treated, case-hardened, hard-turned, and ground for precise mil-spec internal dimensions.
  • Bolt: Machined from Carpenter 158 or 9310 steel, shot-peened (using S110 shot, verified by Almen Gage A-2 strip .006–.008), hard-turned/ground, and MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspected) per military standards.
  • Finish: Nickel Boron (NiB) coating on the carrier (and typically the full assembly in NiB variants). This provides superior lubricity (low friction), corrosion resistance, durability, and easier cleaning compared to traditional phosphate or even nitride finishes. It runs cleaner and drier than standard mil-spec BCGs.
  • Cam Pin: Lantac's proprietary CP-R360 domed-head design, precision-machined from 17-4PH stainless steel, hand-polished, and hardened to H900 condition. The domed shape reduces friction and wear on the upper receiver.
  • Gas Key: Staked (reviews note decent staking quality).
  • Weight: Approximately 11–12 oz (typical for full-auto profile 5.56 BCGs; exact not always listed but consistent with similar models).
  • Origin: Made in the USA (ITAR-controlled; not for export without license).
  • Warranty: Lifetime from Lantac.

The BCG is fully assembled and ready to drop into a standard AR-15 upper. It maintains strict mil-spec dimensions and tolerances while adding the NiB coating and upgraded cam pin for enhanced reliability.

Variants in the M-SPEC Line

Lantac offers several finishes in the same base M-SPEC design:

  • Standard/QPQ Black Nitride (e.g., 01-MSPEC-556-NIT-EBCG): Good corrosion resistance and durability.
  • NiB (Nickel Boron) (your model, 01-MSPEC-556-NIB-BCG): Best lubricity and easiest cleaning.
  • TiN (Titanium Nitride): Gold-colored, very hard and slick.
