Armorer Bench Notes & Real-World Staging Guidance:
Fitment Matrix: Fits standard forged and billet AR-15 lower receivers. This is an Intermediate / A5-length receiver extension (approx. 3/4" longer internal length than a standard carbine tube) and REQUIRES a BCM MK2 / VLTOR A5 / Intermediate buffer paired with an A5 or rifle-length recoil spring. (Note: Do NOT use standard 3.25" carbine buffers or standard carbine springs, as doing so will cause improper bolt carrier stroke, failure to lock back, or structural damage to the lower receiver tang).
- Perform a complete firearm safety check: drop the magazine, pull the charging handle rearward, lock the action open, and visually inspect the chamber to verify zero live rounds are present.
- Thread a standard castle nut onto the BCM-MK2-RE receiver extension with the notched staking grooves facing rearward toward the stock.
- Slide a steel receiver endplate (standard or QD) onto the tube with the index alignment tab facing forward toward the lower receiver keyway notch.
- Thread the buffer tube into the lower receiver until it depresses and captures the buffer retainer pin and spring flat without binding.
- Press the endplate flush against the rear of the lower receiver, thread the castle nut forward against the endplate, and hand-tighten.
- Using an AR-15 castle nut wrench, torque the castle nut to Mil-Spec torque (38–40 ft-lbs) and stake the endplate steel into two castle nut notches using a center punch.
- Insert an Intermediate/A5-length recoil spring and BCM MK2 buffer into the tube until captured by the retainer pin, then slide your Mil-Spec adjustable stock onto the 8-position extension.
