The Fortis Manufacturing RED™ (Rapid Engagement Device) Muzzle Brake in 7.62mm Black Nitride (SKU: F-RED-762 / UPC: 855476008599) is a high-performance muzzle control device engineered to eliminate felt recoil and barrel rise on .30-caliber tactical rifles. Designed for hard-use shooters, competitive marksmen, and tactical operators, the RED™ brake allows rapid follow-up shots by managing expanding muzzle gases as they exit the barrel.
Precision CNC-machined from heavy-duty steel and finished with a durable, anti-corrosive Black Nitride (QPQ) coating, the F-RED-762 features a distinctive multi-stage baffle system. Dual side-diverting ports force high-pressure gas laterally to neutralize horizontal and rearward recoil force, while top-side compensation ports vent gas upward to counteract muzzle climb—keeping your optic reticle flat and locked on target.
Threaded in standard 5/8"-24 tpi, the Fortis RED™ 7.62mm brake is compatible with .308 Winchester, 7.62x51mm NATO, .300 AAC Blackout, and 6.5 Creedmoor barrels. Each unit comes packaged with a crush washer for proper timing and alignment during armorer installation.
*Armorer Bench Notes & Real-World Staging Guidance:*
Fitment Matrix: Direct fitment for 7.62mm / .30 Caliber barrels threaded in standard 5/8"-24 TPI (including .308 Win, 7.62x51mm NATO, .300 BLK, and 6.5 Creedmoor). Will NOT fit 1/2"-28 threaded 5.56mm barrels or 9mm threads.
- Ensure the host rifle is completely clear, magazine removed, and chamber visually and physically verified empty.
- Clean barrel muzzle threads thoroughly and slip the included new crush washer onto the barrel threads (cupped side facing toward the receiver).
- Thread the Fortis RED brake onto the barrel by hand until it contacts the crush washer.
- Using an adjustable wrench on the brake's flat surfaces, rotate the brake 90 to 270 degrees until top vertical port holes are indexed perfectly at the 12 o'clock position.
