The Geissele Automatics Reliability Enhancement Kit (REK) with H1 Buffer Weight (MPN: 05-492-H1) is a flagship internal drive system upgrade engineered to maximize cycle consistency, bolt longevity, and recoil management in 5.56mm / .223 Rem AR-15 pattern carbines. At the center of the kit is the full-mass M16 profile REBCG, precision-machined from 8620 steel and featuring extended upper carrier rails that dramatically reduce carrier tilt and improve feeding geometry. The included Stressproof Bolt® is forged from Carpenter 158+ steel—a proprietary high-purity alloy developed with Carpenter metallurgists that yields up to 5x the operational lifespan of standard Mil-Spec bolts. The entire BCG assembly, including the H13 medical-grade steel cam pin and properly torqued/staked gas key, is treated with Geissele's exclusive Nanoweapon® (DLC/Chrome-Nitride) coating. Fitment Matrix: Fits standard AR-15, M4, and carbine-length lower receiver receiver extensions (buffer tubes) chambered in 5.56 NATO, .223 Remington, and .300 AAC Blackout. (Note: The Super 42 braided spring features a unique wire diameter and MUST be used exclusively with the included Geissele Super 42 buffer body; do NOT attempt to pair the Super 42 spring with standard Mil-Spec carbine buffers).
- Perform a complete firearm safety check: drop the magazine, lock the bolt rearward, and visually/physically inspect the chamber to verify zero live rounds are present.
- Depress the buffer retainer pin inside the lower receiver extension and remove the existing buffer spring and buffer assembly.
- Thoroughly clean and dry the inside of the buffer tube, removing old grease, grit, or carbon slurry.
- Slide the Geissele H1 buffer fully into the Super 42 braided wire spring until the spring seats firmly over the buffer shoulder.
- Insert the Super 42 buffer and spring assembly into the receiver extension until the buffer retainer snaps over the forward face of the buffer pad.
- Install the Nanoweapon-coated REBCG into the upper receiver group, lubricate contact rails lightly, and perform a dry-function check verifying smooth cycling and bolt lock-up before live-fire staging.
