Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuff 22dB Black R 02524 UPC 033552025245
Product Description
The Howard Leight by Honeywell Impact Sport Electronic Earmuff in Matte Black (MPN: R-02524) is an industry-standard electronic hearing protection headset engineered for range officers, tactical shooters, and hunters. Designed to deliver low-profile, active noise attenuation without sacrificing situational awareness, the Impact Sport automatically blocks dangerous impulse gunshot noise over 82 dB while actively amplifying ambient range commands and low-level environmental sounds up to 4x.
Featuring a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 22 dB, the R-02524 utilizes built-in directional microphones that capture ambient conversation and environmental cues with natural stereophonic clarity. When impulse muzzle blasts occur, the electronic compression circuit instantly cuts off amplification, protecting internal ear structures from acoustic trauma. The ultra-slim earcup design features cutouts specifically tailored to clear long gun stock combs during cheek weld, eliminating interference when mounting rifles or shotguns.
Equipped with an adjustable padded headband and quick-replace snap-in ear cushions, the Howard Leight Impact Sport ensures all-day wearing comfort on the range. The unit includes a single rotary power/volume knob for intuitive control w/ gloved hands, an integrated 3.5mm AUX audio input jack for connecting handheld radios or MP3 players, an automatic 4-hour shutoff feature to conserve battery life, and comes complete w/ 2 AAA batteries providing up to 350 hours of continuous operation.
Armorer Bench Notes & Real-World Staging Guidance:
Fitment Matrix: Universal adult fit w/ telescoping height-adjustable headband wire guides. Ultra-slim earcup contour clears rifle and shotgun stock combs (e.g., AR-15 carbines, precision bolt guns, tactical shotguns). (Note: For indoor shooting range environments with high-energy magnum impulse noise, pairing with slim foam earplugs underneath is recommended; internal speaker amplification maintains clear speech perception).
- Perform a complete firearm safety check before placing hearing protection over ears during staging.
- Unclip the outer battery compartment cover on the right earcup by sliding the latch upward.
- Insert the 2 included AAA alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity alignment (+/-), and snap the cover closed.
- Extend the headband slider wires and place the earmuff over your head, positioning the ear cushions squarely over both ears to form an airtight acoustic seal.
- Rotate the side volume dial forward to turn on the electronic circuit and adjust ambient amplification to your preferred level.
- Connect an optional 3.5mm patch cable to the AUX jack for radio communication integration during tactical or range operations.
