- Ensure the host AR-15 is completely clear, magazine removed, bolt locked rearward, and the chamber visually and physically confirmed empty.
- Separate the upper receiver from the lower receiver; apply multiple protective layers of masking tape over the lower receiver receiver walls surrounding the bolt catch pivot ears.

- Align the pivot hole, compress the detent plunger, and drive the included 3/32" roll pin flush into the receiver ears using a roll pin starter punch; remove protective tape and perform dry-fire function checks with an empty magazine to verify bolt lockback and manual finger release.
