- Perform a complete firearm safety check: drop any inserted magazine, lock the slide rearward, and visually inspect the chamber to verify the firearm is unloaded.
- Load .45 ACP cartridges manually or using a speed loader, pushing each round rearward against the back wall of the magazine housing.
- Insert the loaded ProMag magazine straight into the magwell until the side magazine catch notch snaps firmly into place.
- To perform maintenance: depress the floorplate locking tab, slide the baseplate forward while securing internal spring tension, and pull out the spring and follower assembly.
