- Perform a complete safety clearance: drop the magazine, lock the bolt rearward, and visually inspect the chamber to verify zero live ammunition is present.
- Unscrew and remove the pistol grip from the bottom of the lower receiver, taking care not to lose the safety detent spring or the small safety detent pin.
- Slide the old safety selector out of the receiver body keyway.
- Apply a light drop of weapons grease to the detent track and central cylinder axis of the TPS Arms AR1035 stainless steel safety selector.
