If your barrel nut is already torqued and your muzzle device is pinned/welded, select the V Seven Straight Rod (PDR-2) instead.
- Ensure the upper receiver is stripped of the barrel, barrel nut, bolt carrier group, and charging handle.
- Slide the long end of the included stainless torsion spring into the receiver opening, resting the long spring tail flat against the upper receiver outer wall.
- Align your ejection port door (such as the V Seven "Air" door) between the upper receiver hinge lugs, setting the short leg of the spring against the inside face of the door under tension.
- Slide the PDR-1 rod from the front receiver hinge lug rearward through the door channel, torsion spring coil, and into the rear receiver lug until the enlarged front head rests against the forward receiver boss.
- Slide the barrel extension into the receiver and torque the barrel nut to manufacturer specification (typically 35–65 ft-lbs); the rear shoulder of the barrel nut will physically trap the enlarged rod head in place, ensuring permanent zero-walkout retention without a C-clip.
