Armorer Bench Notes & Real-World Staging Guidance:
Fitment Matrix: Fits Smith & Wesson M&P, M&P M2.0 Optics Ready (OR) Full Size, Compact, and C.O.R.E. models in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Suppressor height geometry provides a lower 1/3 co-witness over red dot optics mounted via OEM plates or direct slide cuts (Trijicon RMR, Holosun 407c/507c, Aimpoint Acro). (Note: Not compatible with S&W M&P SHIELD series, EZ models, or non-optics-ready standard slides with low dovetails without verifying sight height elevation requirements).
- Perform a complete firearm safety check: drop the magazine, lock the slide rearward, and visually/physically inspect the chamber to verify zero live rounds are present.
- Field strip the pistol slide and securely lock it into a padded bench vise.
- Drift out the factory front and rear iron sights from left-to-right using a specialized sight pusher tool or non-marring brass punch.
- Thoroughly clean the dovetail slots with solvent and an armorer brush to remove factory oil, burrs, or finish residue.
- Apply a drop of thread locker to the rear sight set screw thread, then slide the R3D 2.0 rear sight into the dovetail from right-to-left using the Easy-Press fitting geometry. Tighten the set screw to specification.
- Press the front sight into the front dovetail, verify centered alignment with a dial caliper, and allow all thread lockers to cure prior to live-fire range staging.
