The Daniel Defense M4A1 FSP RIS II Handguard (01-004-08030) is a battle-proven, 12.25-inch quad rail handguard engineered for military-spec AR-15 platforms running a carbine-length gas system with a fixed front sight post (FSP). Developed specifically at the request of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) for the SOPMOD Block II program, the RIS II FSP provides operators with a continuous top Picatinny rail and an extended handguard footprint that wraps around the factory A2 front sight base.

Precision CNC-machined from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 billet aluminum, this 2-piece free-floating rail features a specialized lower section that can be removed quickly for direct mounting of an M203 grenade launcher without requiring additional mounting brackets or specialized tools. Fitment Matrix: Designed specifically for AR-15 / M4 upper receivers paired with carbine-length gas systems utilizing a standard fixed A2 Front Sight Post (FSP / FSB). (Note: Requires removing the factory delta ring, barrel nut, and front sight post taper pins for initial armorer installation).

Perform a complete firearm safety check: drop the magazine, lock the bolt rearward, and visually inspect the chamber to verify zero live rounds are present.

Drive out the front sight post taper pins and muzzle device to remove the A2 FSB, handguard cap, delta ring assembly, and factory barrel nut.

Install the Daniel Defense heavy-duty steel barrel nut onto the upper receiver threads and torque to manufacturer specification (35–50 ft-lbs) using the included DD RIS II barrel nut wrench.

Reinstall the carbine-length A2 front sight post, taper pins, and gas tube onto the barrel.
