*Armorer Bench Notes & Real-World Staging Guidance:*
Fitment Matrix: Direct fit for Kalashnikov USA KP-9, KR-9, and AK-V / stamped AKM / AK-74 rifles and pistols equipped with standard-dimension lower handguard retainers (with cutouts accommodating the factory handguard retainer sling loop). Will NOT fit Yugoslavian/Zastava PAP M70/M92/M85 platforms or milled-receiver AKs without specialized modification. When torquing modular upper MMS gas tube rails into the lower handguard, utilize blue threadlocker and torque to 15 in-lbs.
- Ensure the host KP-9 or AK is completely clear, magazine removed, and chamber visually and physically verified empty.
- Field strip the dust cover, recoil assembly, bolt carrier, gas tube, and factory lower handguard.
- Seat the rear tenon of the JMac 7.72" lower handguard firmly into the front receiver socket, tapping with a brass or nylon armorer mallet if lockup is tight.
- Slide the factory lower handguard retainer into the forward internal notch of the JMac rail, rotate the locking lever closed, and reinstall your upper gas tube assembly before function testing.
