The Microtech Scarab II Gen III (1181-12OD) is the 2026 definitive "hard-use" Out-The-Front (OTF) automatic knife. Larger and more robust than its siblings in the Microtech lineup, the Scarab II is built to handle tactical and survival tasks that would strain smaller knives. This third-generation model features the revolutionary Dual-Fuel Drivetrain, a dual-spring system that provides exceptionally smooth action and enough force to reliably fire the blade even when fully submerged underwater. The 3.9-inch Double Edge (D/E) blade is crafted from Bohler M390MK stainless steel, a proprietary Microtech-exclusive steel that offers enhanced edge stability and corrosion resistance, finished in a classic, non-reflective Stonewash.
The chassis (810222581450) is machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and anodized in a rugged Olive Drab (OD) Green. To ensure a "locked-in" grip in extreme environments, the handle features 3M black traction tape inserts on both sides. A key 2026 upgrade is the "Krud Kutter" milling on the thumb slide—a series of grooves designed to break up pocket lint and debris to prevent internal clogging. With rear porting designed to displace air and water for effortless opening under pressure and a signature tungsten-carbide glass breaker, the Scarab II Gen III remains the world’s most formidable large-scale production OTF for professionals.
