Armorer Bench Notes & Real-World Staging Guidance:
Fitment Matrix: Fits AR-15 / M4 carbine rifles equipped with a standard carbine-length gas system, factory Delta Ring assembly, and round or triangular front handguard cap behind a front sight base (FSB). (Note: Does NOT fit mid-length or rifle-length gas systems, nor free-float barrel nut configurations without a delta ring).

1. Perform a complete firearm safety check: drop the magazine, pull the charging handle rearward, lock the bolt open, and visually/physically inspect the chamber to verify zero live rounds are present.
2. Depress the factory spring-loaded delta ring using a handguard removal tool (or two hands) and remove the two plastic factory handguard halves.
3. Thoroughly clean carbon and debris from around the barrel nut, delta ring spring, and front handguard cap.
4. Insert the lower half of the MI-17M handguard into the front handguard cap notch and seat the rear lip inside the compressed delta ring.
5. Position the upper half of the MI-17M handguard into place, pressing down firmly until the upper and lower halves interlock.
6. Tighten the included anti-rotation / clamp screws to specification (approx. 15–20 in-lbs) to lock the handguard halves together with zero movement before range deployment.
