Apply Aeroshell 33MS / 64 grease to threads and torque barrel nuts to 35–45 ft-lbs (maximum 50 ft-lbs). Always support the receiver using an internal reaction rod (splined into the barrel extension) rather than clamping the magnesium receiver walls in an external clamshell vise block.
- Secure an internal barrel extension splined reaction rod (such as a Geissele Reaction Rod or Midwest Industries URR) horizontally into an armorer bench vise.
