Fitment & Platform Compatibility Matrix: Fits standard 5-inch 1911 Government Model Receivers in .45 ACP, 9mm, and 10mm. Note: Will NOT fit shorter Commander (4.25") or Officer (3.5") models, or 1911s with full-length guide rod systems already installed without removing OEM components. Inspect Shok-Buff washer every 1,000 rounds and replace upon signs of fraying.
Installation Sequence:
- Safety check the firearm: clear magazine, lock slide rearward, and physically/visually inspect chamber to verify clear weapon.
- Field strip the slide assembly, removing the factory barrel bushing, recoil spring, plug, and standard guide rod.
- Slide a Wilson Combat Shok-Buff elastomer washer onto the new guide rod shaft until seated flat against the rear guide flange.
- Insert the guide rod and Shok-Buff assembly into the slide, install the heavy-duty recoil spring and plug, and reassemble slide onto frame.
